Kufsteinerland is known for various cultural highlights, sports activities and other exciting discoveries in the unique natural surroundings. A free activity programme is offered daily and with the KufsteinerlandCard, which you receive at the hotel upon check-in, you get many discounts. You can also take advantage of the free culture shuttle bus in summer and the ski bus directly from the hotel to the Wilder Kaiser Brixental ski area.

The good things are so close – the old town and along the River Inn are wonderful places to shop and stroll. You can enjoy a spectacular view from Kufstein Fortress, where the Heldenorgel (Heroes’ Organ) resounds uniquely over the lower Inn Valley at lunchtime. The Kaiserlift, which takes you easily up the Zahmen Kaiser mountain, is also very special. Wonderful huts invite you to enjoy and hike.

You can reach the Swarovski Crystal Worlds or Innsbruck by car in 50 minutes, as well as the old silver mine in Hall.

Thiersee panorama tour

The route is approx. 40.8 km long, altitude: 1,258 metres
The panoramic tour leads above the Thiersee Valley and offers a unique view of the Wilder Kaiser and Lake Thiersee as far as the Central Alps.

Plangger cheese dairy

The Plangger cheese dairy produces organic hay milk and organic hay milk cheese specialities with silage-free hay milk according to traditional recipes. These are refined and stored for a year in their own special cellars. The shop sells various organic milk and cheese specialities such as fresh hay milk, sour cream butter, curd cheese, yoghurt, cream cheese, buttermilk, fruit whey, Rässkäse, mountain cheese, cream cheese, Sennkäse and blue mould cheese.

Ice skating

There are numerous opportunities for ice skating fun in the natural fortress town and the eight picturesque villages of Kufsteinerland. On artificial ice rinks and, weather permitting, on the Hechtsee and Thiersee. Glide over frozen lakes, do pirouettes on the ice rink. There are also covered ice arenas in Ebbs and Kufstein.

Curling

This custom has become a sporting pleasure. Curling in the middle of the lake, surrounded by the whole forest bathed in white. On ice skating rinks or in the middle of the natural landscape of Kufsteinerland, when winter transforms the lakes into smooth sheets of ice. Several times a week, you have the opportunity to glide over the ice with a professional as part of the Kufsteinerland winter adventure programme and learn the necessary know-how for the perfect swing.

Tobogganing

Around the natural fortress town and in the eight picturesque villages of Kufsteinerland, numerous well-prepared forest and woodland trails await tobogganists. Before heading down into the valley, the restaurants along the toboggan runs invite you to warm up and enjoy Tyrolean specialities. Toboggans can be hired at some toboggan runs.

Haflinger Museum Ebbs

The oldest Haflinger stud farm in the world, the Fohlenhof Ebbs, is located directly in extensive meadows with a view of the imposing Zahmer Kaiser. This is where the Haflinger Museum is located, revealing the origins of the Haflinger. Some of the exhibits are over a hundred years old and some exude a touch of Hollywood. Some of the saddles, which are over 200 years old, were used in the film “The Forgotten Valley”, which was shot in Tyrol.

Cross-country skiing

Skating, in classic style, for beginners and advanced skiers. The choice of different cross-country trails in Kufsteinerland is diverse. Cross-country skiing trails are groomed in almost all eight picturesque villages in Kufsteinerland and in the natural fortress town. The cross-country ski trails with the best snow conditions are located in the higher areas of Kufsteinerland such as Bad Häring, Thiersee and Schwoich. In Schwoich, the snow-covered Stöffl trail provides perfect cross-country skiing enjoyment even when there is little snow.

Pendling

The impressive Kufsteinerland local mountain Pendling invites you to go hiking. At 1,563 metres above sea level, you can enjoy a unique view from the summit cross over the Inntal, the Kaisegebirge and Kufstein all the way to the Alps and the Großglockner. At the top of the mountain inn “Kufsteinerhaus” you can enjoy a hearty snack or the famous roast pork.

Snowshoeing

The best way to take your first steps in big disc boots is with a guide. Explore remote places with trained mountain guides from Kufsteinerland and enjoy fascinating resting places to recharge your batteries. The guides know the area inside out and are familiar with the potential danger spots, especially in winter with avalanches and the weather conditions. Insider tips and the most beautiful places in Kufsteinerland can also be found on the guided snowshoe hikes as part of the region’s weekly winter adventure programme. Kaiserlift

Take the Kaiserlift Kufstein up to the mountaineering paradise in comfort – pure nostalgia! Following its refurbishment in 2015, Tyrol’s oldest lift slowly takes you up to the Kaiser. The single chairlift takes you from the valley to the Brentenjoch mountain station. Once you arrive at over 1,200 metres above sea level, an unspoilt natural paradise awaits you – the wonderful Kaisergebirge. Here you will find various hiking trails, panoramic peaks, traditional huts and places of awareness.

Passion Play House Erl

The Erl Passion Play has been an integral part of the Tyrolean cultural landscape for 400 years. Every six years hundreds of villagers come together to herald in the passion play in Erl according to tradition. The venue, the Erl Passion Play House, was built especially for the passion play. Known for the distinctive scene design of the stations of the cross and modern texts, the Erl Passion Play is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

With 4,948 pipes, the largest free-standing organ in the world fills the fortress town with heroic sounds. The sounds of the Heroes’ Organ can be heard far beyond the town of Kufstein. The Heroes’ Organ Concert can be heard daily at 12.00 noon in Kufstein Fortress.

Hundalm ice and stalactite cave Angerberg/Mariastein

In Angerberg/Mariastein you get a glimpse into the interior of the mountain, the only public access to the ice cave in the North Tyrolean Alps. From the main entrance at 1,520 metres above sea level, the Hundalm ice and stalactite cave is up to 45 metres below the earth’s surface. In spring, the most bizarre and fascinating ice formations can be marvelled at here.
